Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

Information for Private Households and Commercial End Users

The following information applies to end users who use electrical and electronic equipment.

1. Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Meaning of the Symbol

Waste electrical and electronic equipment must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste.

Electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.

Instead, such equipment must be collected separately and disposed of through designated collection and recycling systems.

Before disposing of waste equipment, batteries, rechargeable batteries, and lamps that can be removed without damaging the equipment should be removed and disposed of separately where required by applicable law.

The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin indicates that electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste and must be collected separately for proper recycling and recovery.

It is the responsibility of the end user to delete any personal data stored on waste equipment before disposal.

2. Return Options for Waste Equipment

a) Return When Purchasing a New Device

When purchasing a new electrical or electronic device, you may return a waste device of the same type free of charge, provided that the old device performs substantially the same functions as the new one.

Where a new device is delivered to a private household, the old device may be collected free of charge at the time of delivery, where legally applicable.

For certain categories of equipment, collection and return options may be subject to statutory limitations.

b) Return of Small Devices

Regardless of the purchase of a new device, end users may return small waste electrical and electronic devices free of charge in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

A device is generally considered a small device if none of its external dimensions exceeds 25 cm.

Suitable return options may be available at collection points located within a reasonable distance of the end user.
